About Tiny Desk MeMe, the One-Photo Performance Meme Maker
Tiny Desk MeMe is an independent website for one specific meme: the AI parody of Charlie Wilson’s Tiny Desk performance of “Outstanding”, known as the tiny desk meme. You upload one to five portraits, one for each band role you fill, and the service returns a 14-second vertical clip with your people behind the desk, the laughing close-up and the saxophone reveal. There is nothing to film and no prompt to write.
What is the tiny desk meme, and how does this site relate to it?
The tiny desk meme is an AI parody format. Creators cast new people, often the coaches of a team that just lost, in a desk-concert scene modelled on Charlie Wilson's 2023 NPR Tiny Desk performance of the Gap Band's "Outstanding", ending on a laugh and a saxophone reveal. Tiny Desk MeMe makes that format: your five people become the band in a newly generated clip. The result is a parody made with AI, not an NPR recording.
Are you connected to NPR or the artists?
No. Tiny Desk MeMe has no relationship with NPR, the Tiny Desk Concerts series, Charlie Wilson, the Gap Band, or any of their labels and managers. None of them have seen or approved this site. Their names appear only so readers know which performance and song the meme refers to.
How a clip gets made
Each clip is built in two stages, both reached today through the provider Kie. First, OpenAI’s GPT Image 2 image model draws three storyboard frames (the band at the desk, the laughing close-up and the sax solo) from your photos and fixed reference frames. Then ByteDance’s Seedance 2.5 video model animates those frames into one 14-second clip, guided by a reference motion video.
By default the finished clip carries the soundtrack of the reference clip; you can choose a silent export instead. Keep in mind that this is generated video, not a frame-by-frame copy: the likeness, the motion, clothing, instruments and lip sync can all vary between runs, and hands or quick gestures sometimes look strange. Watch the result before you post it.
Clips are 14 seconds long in vertical 9:16, at 480p or 720p. Finished clips are kept in My Creations. Model names are trademarks of their providers, and which models we offer may change.
Who is behind the site?
A small product team builds the interface, runs billing and support, and writes pages like this one. The way we check claims, date changes and fix errors is described in our Editorial Policy.
How we keep these pages accurate
Before a statement about the product goes live, we hold it up against the working maker: which models show up in the selector, which formats and durations each accepts, and how many credits each choice costs. Where a behaviour is controlled by a model provider instead of our own code, the page says so. We do not publish view counts, speed claims or quality rankings that we cannot back with a described measurement, because generated video depends on the photo, the model version and how busy the servers are.
Fair use of the maker
Only upload pictures you are entitled to use. Putting another adult into a clip needs their consent, and photos of minors are never accepted. Mark your posts as AI-generated wherever the platform offers that label, and do not pass a generated clip off as real footage of the artist or of any other person. Our Terms of Service set out the complete rules.
